What is sustainable fashion? Since 2015, ba&sh has been working on an answer to this question with a new commitment towards positive impact. As our brand grew, our priority to advocate for the well-being of people, partners, and of course, the planet, remained a top focus; we stayed true to our intention of responsibility by sourcing more sustainable materials, rethinking the business model, and increasing transparency across our supply chain to lead a new path to a brighter and ethical future. Now, sustainable fashion is attainable – without compromising on style, function, or quality.

It’s never been easier to invest in eco-friendly clothing that has been consciously crafted, and we’ve shared below a few of our co-founders, Barbara and Sharon’s favorite pieces to create sustainable outfits from our latest fall and winter collection.

The Max Jacket:

“This is one of our favorite pieces from the collection because how versatile it is – pair with one of our feminine dresses or easy jeans to instantly elevate your look.” - Barbara

This jacket has an effortless feel that will make for the perfect layering piece – it’s also a must-have because it’s made from 100% organic cotton. This is different from most of the world’s cotton production which comes from China, India and the United States, consuming a considerable amount of water and pesticides. As more people question the source of materials and ingredients in everyday purchases, we can assure you that the cotton we use in our collection takes a considered approach – created from sustainable materials and ingredients that place the welfare of people, animals and the environment first.

How to style the Max Jacket:

Complete the cool-girl chic style of the MAX jacket with an all-black look. The matching DJANGO jeans makes getting ready a complete no-brainer and promises to look good. It’s also a modern twist on matching sets, with a touch of edgy flair. Layer our ultra-soft PITA sweater under the MAX jacket for an elegant style. Finish it off with our high heel CHELBI boots.

The Barthy Sweater:

“Having cruelty-free materials has always been a priority; we designed this chic sweater as a guilt-free purchase for a truly win-win piece to add to your closet.” - Sharon

Cruelty-free components have always been top-of-mind for us: we’ve chosen to invest in supply chains which promote good animal welfare. The majority of wool production used in the industry has strong environmental impacts, including greenhouse gases, intensive use of insecticides, and more. We strive to select organic or Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) to ensure our sustainable wool is safe for everyone, promising to prohibit any cruel practices towards the animals or environment.

How to style the Barthy Sweater:

This luxe sweater will keep you cozy without sacrificing style all season long. The beautiful, bejeweled buttons on the shoulder allow you to dress it up with a simple add of a skirt and boots, making it perfect for any upcoming events. For an everyday look, keep it casual and comfy with our SOUL jeans and CLOGS. The LAINY trench coat be thrown on-top to give a touch of sleek style.

The Coda Boots:

“Our boots are designed to be the ideal complement to any winter outfit – making sure comfort and warmth aren’t forgotten while remaining stylish.” - Barbara

Leather production is a huge part of the industry, and an essential material used in accessories. Therefore, it was important for us to follow dyeing or tanning processes that limit the chemicals used and protect the health of artisans and the environment. As proud members of the Leather Working Group, the leather used in ba&sh accessories is certified to be the best in the industry. This international non-profit is the largest leather sustainable program and identifies the best practices in the leather tanning industry. Almost all our leather is sourced by LWG certified factories from Italian or Portuguese tanneries, with all our bags made from vegetable tanned leather. It’s our New Year’s resolution that 100% of our leather will come from LWG certified tanneries!

How to style the Coda Boots:

These versatile, ultra-desirable winter boots can be worn with almost anything. The CODA boots with our CARMEL shacket create the perfect look for ultimate new-season style. Layer-over our best-selling SEAN sweater for key Parisian aesthetic paired with the CRAFT jeans. The whole look is a true essential go-to that you’ll keep back-of-mind for your winter wardrobe.

The Zeo Sweater:

“The ZEO sweater is my favorite – it’s so easy to wear but instantly polished with the open back and button details. Mix-and-match with pieces for any occasion!” - Sharon

Viscose is one of the main fabrics in each ba&sh collection. More than half of the world’s viscose production comes from China, but ours is different. First, our viscose comes from sustainably managed forests. Furthermore, when able, we use an alternative to conventional Viscose called Lyocell – this amazing material is 100% cellulosic fiber which means it is made from wood pulp and natural solvent – making it an entirely natural material!

How to style the Zeo Sweater:

This soft and feminine sweater is perfect for the festive season but can easily transition to everyday wear. Pair the open back sweater with your go-to denim such as the SCOTT jeans for a dressy evening out. It makes for the perfect holiday look for those who appreciate simplicity. Tie it all together with the BELZA belt and CAITLIN booties and you’re ready to take on the night with sustainable style.

The Sanja Jacket:

“This jacket is a wardrobe staple: our trendy refresh of the classic sherpa jacket, that adds a soft touch to the winter wardrobe. The Sanja is my go-to jacket for cozy style.” - Barbara

Polyester is a material that comes from petroleum, which is non-biodegradable. Synthetic textile fibers are responsible for 35% of the plastic found in oceans. To help put an end to damaging our marine life, we not only use recycled polyester but provide a wash bag that limits the leakage of these micro-particles during machine washes. It’s also a top priority to eliminate the use of virgin plastic from our brand by 2023.

How to style the Sanja Jacket:

For those who love laid-back fashion, the SANJA jacket is a great addition to any closet. Perfect for a casual look, match it with a comfortable sweater such as our BELTAN sweater for a put together yet relaxed style. Add our CLORY mules and TEDDY crossbody when running out for a quick coffee break between meetings.
