Marcella Kelson is a maternal wellness and parenting expert, working to support millennial mothers navigating the overwhelming identity shift that accompanies parenthood. Over the last decade, she has completed two masters degrees in mental health and developmental psychology from New York University & University College of London. Oh, and did we mention she has incredible style?

Here, Marcella gives us the rundown on maternity dressing the second time around–hint: buy dresses you love while you’re pregnant that you’ll also wear after. She also shares some of her favorite third trimester pregnancy ba&sh styles that look equally as chic pre, during, and postpartum. Read on for more pregnancy fashion tips.

“When it comes to maternity wear, I always try to buy outfits that can be worn during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. The Isolde Tie Dye Maxi Dress in off-white looks so great with a belt.” (We’re currently loving the Baden Military-Inspired Leather Belt.) “If you have to size up during your pregnancy, it can be cinched at the waist at any time. At 38 weeks pregnant, a light, flowy dress is pretty much all I want to wear– and I need to be able to move freely to keep up with my toddler without worrying that I’m going to flash someone!”

“The long sleeves and maxi length of this bohemian style make this dress so versatile. Last Friday I wore this to work with a boot (we suggest the Cray), then, later, to a three-year-old’s birthday party with a white sneaker. I simply changed into a chunky heel in time for date night with my husband. Same maxi dress, so many uses. It really is the perfect day-to-night solution for a busy mom.”

“The Noma Printed Maxi Dress is my ideal maternity/postpartum dress for so many reasons.”

“For starters, it is completely stretchy and flowy so there are zero physical restrictions. The stretchy shoulder and sleeve make this dress really easy to remove for a breastfeeding mama on the go.” Check, check…all the checks!

“I love that my comfort is guaranteed no matter what phase of the journey I’m in or how I wake up feeling that day. I can wear this with a jacket and sandals to lunch with friends, or to welcome visitors in those early, sleepless postpartum months when finding an outfit that is comfortable, cute, and functional feels more like a chore than anything else.”
